I am a sous-chef by trade. I work in a hotel in Lisbon, and I live just outside the city with my lovely wife.

I was born in the United Kingdom, and am of British nationality.

My native tongue is English, although I also speak a few other languages as well. I only blog and comment in English though, mainly because most of my readers / friends wouldn't understand if I didn't, and I don't like it when people go off in another language so they can speak badly about someone else who wouldn't understand!

I'm a Sherlockian (hence my user-head): that's a Sherlock Holmes fan for those of you whom are not familiar with the term. As a result of my Sherlockian interest I'm also interested in Old London, although not purely Victorian.

My Journal is Friend-locked. There are some Public posts though. My Journal is basically personal ramblings. I sometimes share pictures that catch my eye (cool gadgets, etc). I won't blog about, nor comment on, religious or political stuff. I find it far too often creates ill-feeling and breaks up friendships.
